FS2002, Maupiti Airport, Maupiti, French polynesia..............NTTP
By: Bill Melichar

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Description:

This scenery has three airports on the small island of Maupiti. The main airport is enhanced with a hut styled terminal, and subdued night lighting, including the runway. There is a sea plane pier in the bay behind the airport, complete with boat docks, and sail boats. There is also a dirt airstrip on the mountain top to challenge the best Ultralight pilots. Maupiti is the furthest main Society Island from Tahiti, and is just a short hop from its' sister island, Bora Bora.

Installation:

1. Extract the file into your main FS2002 scenedb folder, or into a temporary folder, and then move to the scenedb folder in FS2002, which ever method you prefer.

2. Start FS2002, then go to the World tab and click, go to Scenery Library and click to open, then click on Add New Area. Find the scenedb folder and click to open it, then find the Maupiti folder, and click on it. The name Maupiti should now appear in the title window, so click OK. Now you should be back to your scenery library list with Maupiti appearing at the top, then click the OK tab at the bottom, and the scenery will begin to install. That's it, welcome to Maupiti!

3. It is recommended that you close FS, and restart before using your new scenery to make sure everything is installed properly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:

The Ultralight landing strip on the top of Mt. Teurafaatiu, the highest peak on the island, will work only if you have the terrain mesh FrenchPolynesia.zip installed by Rolf Keibel, and John Applegate, which is available at Simviation.com under scenery for CombatFS2. This is the recommended terrain mesh for French Polynesia, and will greatly enhance your flying experience in this area. The landing strip and mountain top vegetation will only appear if your scenery density settings are set at very dense. If you do not have this terrain mesh installed, you may experience a floating dirt runway over the islands main mountain.

Recommended add ons for French Polynesia:

Terrain Mesh:
FrenchPolynesia.zip, available at Simviation.com, by Rolf Keibel, and John Applegate, created for CombatFS2. This terrain mesh although not created for FS2002, works perfectly fine in my computer, and is the best single enhancement for the entire French Polynesian area. It also does not conflict in any way with my scenery add ons in the area, and in fact is necessary if you want the complete scenery for my island of Maupiti.

Water Texture:
If you have any other water texture installed on your FS2002 program you are wasting your time if it is not Ed Truthans oceanstx.zip. It is available at all the major sites, Simviation.com, SurClaro.com, and SurClaro. It will absolutely knock your pants off when you see how great it looks, especially in tropical waters!

Credits:

First and formost, I must give John de Langristin a huge amount of credit, and consider him a co-partner for my scenery designs. He has been sending me some fantastic macros to use in French Polynesia, and they are exactly what I need, at the right time. Look for an upgrade add on to Bora Bora in the very near future done by both John, and myself!

I would also like to thank Gerd Winterfeld, and Richard Powell for their coconut trees and tropical trees respectively. Without these tree macros, it would have been very difficult making a convincing looking tropical island scenery.

I would also like to thank Mike Wallace for bringing the largest collection of static aircraft to scenery designers. I could design a scenery anywhere in the world, and find a static aircraft that was politically correct for the area in Mike's library!

Legal, and contact:

This scenery is freeware, and may not be reproduced in any part or whole for profit. If you wish to upload it to your site, you have my blessings, but let me know where it is going so I can add your site to my Worldwide collection. Author is not responsible for any damage to your computer, so in other words, use at your own risk. This scenery has been tested, and should work fine in any computer able to run FS2002. Scenery add ons will affect frame rates!
